   Core Practice Areas

(You can choose one of these areas when you sign up for sessions, or incorporate all of them)

  1. Psychotherapy:  I use a few different psychological theories in my practice: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.  My approach is different from most therapists because I incorporate suggestions / recommendations for physical health as well.  The fitness training and the mental health are directly linked, and one who enters therapy with me will be asked to exercise.  One who begins training with me will be asked to do some therapeutic work as well.  My license is an LCSW (CT and NY), Licensed Clinical Social Worker, which enables me to diagnose and treat most psychiatric disorders.  The CT LCSW enables me to supervise beginning therapists.

  2. Weight Control Coaching:  In office discussion about triggers that cause people to make poor food choices.  I follow Dr. Dan Kirschenbaum's guidelines for weight loss.  Dan was my clinical consultant from 2006-2008 at The Healthy Obsession Program at Dr. Strongwater's office in Westchester.  I was the Director of the program which dealt primarily with the morbidly obese population.  Dan's book, The Nine Truths About Weight Loss was endorsed by The American Council on Exercise as the best book ever written about weight loss.  It was an honor to work with him.

  3. Personal Fitness Training:  I started as a Master Trainer at NY Sports Clubs in 1992.  I was the top trainer at their flagship club in Manhattan and was interviewed by Good Day NY about women's bodies and women's health.  (My claim to fame )

  4. Life Coaching:  In office discussion/coaching to help people reach their goals and identify stumbling blocks that will cause them to fall off track.  This is a more directive approach than psychotherapy. I use the same psychological models that I use for psychotherapy (see #1).

My Model – Mind Body Fitness, LLC:
- A combination of mental health and physical health; "First we talk, then we walk".
- Sessions:  45 minutes (your choice of any of the services listed above)
- Hour sessions (½ hour of therapy or coaching, followed by a ½ hour of fitness training)
